I think my rear derailleur problem was a fluke, it happens. I used it as an excuse to install the Reaction cables (as I've had a positive experience with it on my other bike). With a frame as nice as this, you really can't go wrong no matter what you put on it. :-) This is my first experience with Brooks saddles, all of my other friends rave about it (once broken in). I have the 2010 also, and have opted to keep things black for the most part, I have upgraded the brakes to Ultegra 6700's, and replaced the stem and seat post with black Ritchey WCS bits, kept the FSA bars, and then did some Mavic Kyserium wheels in black also, but I like the look of the white American classic rims, I just preferred the black. I have not had the derailleur problem you mentioned. The Brooks saddle has been good to me, gets better with every ride. 2K miles since the beginning of Feb. I really love this bike!!
